The heart is one of the most important human organs. When we are healthy, we ignore our bad habits.
Very often, performing certain daily rituals, we do not even realize that they can harm us. It would seem that, at first glance, absolutely safe habits can lead to serious heart diseases.
1. The heart does not like when you sit for a long time
Your body needs activity throughout the day, even if it’s little.
If you work in an office, it’s important to walk a little at least every hour to get the flowing blood. Just walk around your workplace to stretch and give your back a break.
You can be physically active even while watching your favorite series. Why not dance or do push-ups during the ad? You can even use the treadmill or exercise bike while watching a movie.
2. You think you’re too young to worry about heart health
Waiting to start taking care of your heart health is one of the most common bad habits today.
Exercise, healthy eating, and control of blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar are good habits that should be developed as early as possible.
Not only will it make you healthier, but you’ll also look better. Now is the time to take care of your heart and overall health.
3. Alcohol abuse
For most people, it is perfectly normal to consume alcohol in moderation. That means one drink a day for women and two for men. Small doses can indeed in some cases have a positive effect on the work of the heart.
But if you drink too much, it can raise the levels of certain fats in your blood, as well as your blood pressure. That’s why it’s important to stay within the prescribed limits when it comes to heart health.
4. Healthy diet
The Mediterranean diet, for example, will allow you to use healthy and tasty foods in your everyday life.
With good fats, fiber, and nutrients, these foods will help keep your heart healthy. This diet is also easy to follow because the foods it contains are delicious!
5. You do not know the main indicators of your health
What is your current cholesterol level? What about blood pressure? Have no idea? Harmful habits, including ignorance of these elementary facts, can be very disturbing.
Your indicators can be the cause of problems for the body, and you do not even suspect that something can go wrong.
You can feel great even with high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Know yourself better.
If you are over 20 years old, it is worth checking the indicators every 4-6 months.
6. Your waistline is out of the normal range
Fat that accumulates around the abdomen can be particularly damaging to the heart. If you’ve stopped following your figure lately, it’s best to start now.
Being overweight is a warning sign that should not be ignored.
Do you think you need to lose weight? If so, remember that even a small amount of weight loss can be good for your heart.
7. You ignore mental health
When you’re feeling down, focusing on what’s good for your health is hard, especially exercise.
Therefore, if you feel depressed or under a lot of stress, you should talk to a doctor or a psychologist.
Exercise and meditation are said to be activities that can replace bad habits that cause mental deterioration.
In this way, you will improve your mood and have more energy to take care of yourself.
8. Passive smoking
This smoke causes damage to both the heart and blood vessels.
If you have to spend time with someone who can’t quit, ask them to at least not do it around you or indoors, such as in your home, office, or car.
And maybe with your help, this person will be able to kick this bad habit.
